Description

Sansevieria masoniana is an unusual, uncommon variety of Snake plant. Similarly to its cousins S. Zeylanica and S. Laurentii, it is extremely tough and resilient. This plant is commonly known as Whale Fin plant as its single leaf reminds of the shape of an orca whale fin poking out of the water.

Size: 10.5cm pot x 30cm height

Origin: West Africa

Care

Light: Indirect light, medium light

Humidity: Low

Temperature: 15-24ºC

Watering: Allow the top 3 cm of the compost to dry between waterings when the plant is actively growing, usually from spring through autumn. Reduce watering frequency in winter if light levels are lower.

Feeding: Use half the recommended dose of a balanced liquid fertilizer every 6-8 weeks spring through autumn, or whenever you can see active growth.

Soil: Cactus compost or well draining soil mix.

Tip: This plant can be toxic if ingested, so we advise to keep it away from pets and children. The roots of Sansevieria like it snug, so when repotting choose a pot that just about fits the root ball.

Did you know? As contradictory as it may sound, Sansevieria species produce flower stalks when root bound or mildly stressed!
